James Bruce-Lockhart was born in Sedburgh , Yorkshire in 1941. He served as a diplomat in Lagos, Nigeria in the late 1980s. Also an author and intrepid traveller, publishing a book on his re-tracing of the 19th Century explorer Hugh Clapperton's expeditions in West Africa.
