Born at Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, the artist had a keen interest in nature and his first job was with the Forestry Commission. In 1960 he was encouraged to start painting and has been a professional artist ever since. He paints a wide range of subject matter including landscapes, seascapes and still life with a highly individual style that is the product of being completely self-taught.
He regularly exhibits throughout the country showing work at The Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters. He has had one man shows in New Orleans with the Dixon & Dixon Gallery as well as at Haddiscoe Hall in Norfolk in 2010 and 2011, jointly exhibiting at The Bruton Street Gallery in Mayfair in London.
